Case study REiNOVA

REiNOVA “gives wings” to Portuguese and Spanish entrepreneurs to export, according to the website Observador

When we talk about exportation, there is always that fear of giving “a step higher than the leg”. Miguel and João, the two young agro-food entrepreneurs from Alentejo who embarked on this cross-border project, are surprised by all that has been achieved so far. They were able to innovate in the design of their figs of the Alentejo, now with a new modular packaging more adapted to the Scandinavian market, in addition to promoting and valuing the company Agriofiap and its other Portuguese products out there.

Another example of this willingness to face new horizons is the artisanal gin bica Gin, developed with the support of the project REiNOVA by the company Monte da Bica, with a packaging accompanied by a cup “Tiki” (usually associated with cocktails), its latest innovation, designed to take the “jump” to Brazil and to Hong Kong.

The project, called REiNOVA, is helping to realize this old “dream of appearing in other markets than the national” and is available to assist in the development of other products from the Portuguese Central Region and the Spanish regions of Castile-Leon and Extremadura.

With an investment of nearly 1.39 million, 75% co-financed by the Cooperation Programme INTERREG V-A Spain-Portugal (POCTEP) 2014-2020 and 25% by its other 11 partners.

Led by IDDNET – Technology Network, the main objective of the project is to actively promote innovation in the agri-food area in the micro and medium enterprises (SMEs) of the regions mentioned, running a little like “a kind of entrance gate” for small producers.
